Employee Spotlight: Rick Eitel

For this month’s employee spotlight, we sat down with our 2016 Doug Craft Technician of the Year award winner, Rick Eitel.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I was born in Charleston South Carolina, where we lived till I was 4 years old. I moved from Charleston to Woodbine, Ga (just above Jacksonville Fl).  We lived there for about 8 years.  Next, we moved to Hartwell, GA where I currently live.  Growing up I loved baseball, fishing and all things outdoors.  I graduated from Hart County High School in 2002.  I have been married for 10 years and have 2 little girls, Alissa (10) and Katelyn (4).

You’re coming up on your 7 year anniversary with American Pest Control. What has been your favorite aspect of your job as a technician?

My favorite part of my job is the customers.  I have enjoyed meeting lots of new people and seeing families of customers grow as mine has done in the past 7 years.

How did you first get into the pest control industry?

I guess you could say I lucked into it.  I had a family member that was friends with a manager in Toccoa. He knew I was unhappy where I was currently working and thought that I would be right for the job.  I applied, got the job and haven’t looked back.Rick Eitel.jpg

What are your favorite hobbies outside of work?

I enjoy hunting, fishing, and camping.

What do you love about living in Hartwell?

Everything!  I believe it is the perfect place to raise my family.

What’s your favorite local organization to support and why?

My favorite organization is the Shriners.  It’s my favorite because when I was born they helped me and my family a lot.  I give back to them as often as possible.
