American Pest Control Hosts Tax Day Event

Nothing is certain but death and taxes. American Pest Control hosted a termite memorial service on Tax Day as part of the Sentricon™ Deader than Dead national tour. “We were honored to be included in Sentricon’s national tour to increase termite awareness” said Laurie Higginbotham, President and CEO of American Pest Control.

The fun began in the afternoon as a hearse boasting a 7-foot replica of a termite on top pulled into American Pest Control company headquarters on Atlanta Highway in Athens. The company invited Holy Crepe food truck to provide snacks and Java Joy to serve coffee and refreshments to attendees. Local radio station, Bulldog 93.3, was also on site hosting a live remote broadcast from the event featuring segments from employees along with local realtor, Sissy Erwin.

Employees of American Pest Control were joined by family, community members, and fellow local business members who joined in the festivities. Children enjoyed bug-themed coloring pages and activities in the kid’s zone. Played by American Pest Control technicians, Captain America and a life-sized termite also joined the party. Inside, the fun continued with a bar, raffle prizes, and giveaways.

While the day was all fun and games, the threat of termites is not, so American Pest Control appreciated the opportunity to increase awareness about ways to protect homeowners’ investments. “It was fun to have the opportunity use such a dramatic tool to illustrate the danger of termites and educate people in our community” said Amber Deutsch, Commercial Marketing Specialist. American Pest Control plans to continue participating in the tour next year with a customer appreciation celebration!
